Cosmetology
Course Description
Express your creativity and talent in hair, skin and nail care. The
Cosmetology program teaches essential skills and provides comprehensive
practice of hands-on skills and theory. Students work with mannequins, live
models and clients. This includes:
• Hair cutting / design
• Chemical services
• Hair color / high lighting
• Nails and skin care
• Perming
• Artificial nails
• Waxing
• Make-up
• Product / sales knowledge
• Client services / business skills
This is a 1500 hour program. The first 350 hours are spent in the
Jr. classroom. Once you have finished you are considered
a Sr. Student and are ready to work with the public on
the clinic floor.
Hair
Perms, all over color,
foiling, hair cutting design and techniques, wash and styles, updo’s,
color correcting, product
usage, product sales and knowledge.
Skin
Facials, skin analysis, massage
for the face, hair removal, (waxing), and skin nutrition.
Aromatherapy, make-up application, product
usage, product sales and knowledge.
Nail Care
Pedicures and manicures- polish, filing,
buffing, trimming, cuticles and nails.
Nail art, acrylic nail application
and removal, sculpting, nail disorders and diseases,
Sanitation, safety, precautions, product
sales and knowledge.
Hours
*Full-Time Cosmetology Student:
35-40 hours are required per week
*Part-Time Cosmetology Student:
20-40 hours are required per week
1500 Hours (first 350 spent
in class room as a junior student, the rest are spent out
on the floor as a senior
student working on clients)
*Every other Saturday is required, after completing your first 350 hours of training.
*School Hours
8:30 am – 4:30pm Monday – Friday
8:00 am – 4:00pm Saturday
Requirements
*All French Academy Students must pass with a minimum of 80% grade level in all
Subjects.
Dress Code
Black pants, skirt and/or Capri’s.
Black or white shirt
No sleeveless shirts.
Totally enclosed black shoes.
Apron and nametag (that are provided) must be worn at all times.
